Sleep Apnoea and Snoring is very common. Sleep apnoea can be quietly debilitating to the sufferer and just as disruptive for their partner. Sleep Apnoea has many aspects and is best diagnosed with a sleep study by a sleep physician. CPAP is still the gold standard for treatment of moderate to severe sleep apnoea. But for mild to moderate cases, or to just quieten disruptive snoring, oral mandibular advancement appliances can be very effective. For those who cannot tolerate CPAP they are the next best option.
Mandibular advancement appliances work by holding your jaw slightly forward while you sleep, especially when sleeping on your back. This prevents the soft tissues of your airway collapsing and obstructing your breathing. There are many appliance designs out there, but only a handful that work predictably, are comfortable and durable. Our appliances are made by Sleep Wise lab in Melbourne after we have examined you, and assessed your sleep study.
